Texas Tamale Company is dedicated to being a conscientious company with various philanthropies in place, but still always searching to worthy causes that support the citizens in our community. Here are just some of the worthwhile causes we have joined or established:
Star of Hope
Since 2013, we have funded an annual dinner with Houston's preeminent supporter of the homeless- Star of Hope. We are honored to assist Star of Hope in their mission to "homeless men, women and their children. Positive life changes are encouraged through structured programs which focus on spiritual growth, education, employment, life management and recovery from substance abuse."
Literacy in the Bag
This Christmas we partnered with iWrite and The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation to establish our "Literacy in the Bag" campaign. We visited homes in the Heights and Montrose area and dropped off book donation bags. We asked the community to please drop your new or gently used books in the bag and place them on your porch the following weekend. Our 90 volunteers and The Heights and Montrose community. We were able to collect a total of 7,500 books to donate to the Houston community!
