Mexican Crema

PREP TIME: 5 MINUTES        TOTAL TIME: 12 HOURS 5 MINUTES

A Mexican style crema that is thinner than your American sour cream, yet creamy enough to add dimension to nearly any dish, including our Texas Tamales.

Ingredients:

 ½ cup heavy cream

 1 tbsp buttermilk

 1 tbsp lime juice (fresh)

 Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Combine: In a small bowl, combine the heavy cream and buttermilk
  2. Cover and rest: Using plastic wrap or a lid, cover and let the mixture sit in a warm area for 12 hours to thicken
  3. Mix: Add the lime juice and salt to the mixture, stir until combined
  4. Serve: Serve your tasty homemade crema by drizzling directly on tamales!
